UP police STF killed a wanted gangster in an encounter in Gonda
Gangster Vijay Singh alias Bijendra Singh alias Biji had 17 cases registered against him for murder, robbery, attempt to murder and other charges in Ambedkar Nagar, Gorakhpur, Ayodhya and Amethi district
The UP Police’s Special Task Force (STF) gunned down an alleged gangster wanted in 17 cases and carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 for information on him, in an encounter in Gonda district.
The gangster gunned down was identified as Vijay Singh alias Bijendra Singh alias Biji (48) who had 17 cases registered against him for murder, robbery, attempt to murder and other charges in Ambedkar Nagar, Gorakhpur, Ayodhya and Amethi district.
According to police, they were tipped on Saturday that Singh was going to Nawabganj area to commit a crime. The police laid a trap and spotted him riding a motorcycle at Paraspur-Nawabganj area around 6 am.
The STF officials stated that when he was asked him to surrender, he opened fire at the police team. The police shot at him in retaliatory fire.
Singh was taken to hospital where he was declared dead.
The Ambedkar Nagar police had been looking for Singh, a native of the district, in a murder case of one Sachin alias Puju Tiwari, who was shot dead in January last year.
The police have seized a .32 pistol, a cellphone and the motorcycle allegedly used in the crime.
