The Uttar Pradesh Police gunned down one and arrested two others in the brutal assault case of a woman constable who was found injured in Saryu Express train. The encounter took place in Ayodhya.
The deceased has been identified as Anish Khan, while the two arrested accused are Azad and Vishambhar Dayal Dubey. While Anis and Azad are from Haiderganj in Ayodhya, Dubey is a native of Sultanpur.
While probing the case, the police had got photograph of the accused which the woman constable identified as the attacker. He was later identified as Anish Khan.
The police traced them to Ayodhya and when they had gone to arrest the accused, they opened fire. In retaliation, the police also fired and Azad and Dubey got injured. However, Anish managed to escape.
The police team them traced him further and he opened fire at the police party when he was told to surrender. In retaliation, the police fired back and Anish Khan was killed, police stated.
As per the case details, on August 30, the victim, an on-duty constable, was found unconscious in a “pool of blood” inside the general compartment of a train at Ayodhya railway station. She had wounds from a sharp-edged weapon on her face. The attack came to light when a passenger boarded the train at Ayodhya junction and found the victim beneath a lower berth in the empty compartment. The passenger immediately alerted the Government Railway Police (GRP).
The Allahabad High Court soon took suo motu cognisance of the matter.
