UP Police gunned down a wanted gangster in Bijnor

The Uttar Pradesh Police gunned down a gangster carrying a reward of Rs 2.5 lakh on his head in an encounter early in Bijnor.

The gangster identified as Aditya Rana alias Ravi was wanted after he escaped from police custody in 2008 from Shahjahanpur.

The police said that Rana had 43 cases against him, including six murders and 13 robberies. He had escaped from police custody twice in 2017 and 2022, said the police adding his gang had 48 members. On August 23, 2022, Rana escaped from police custody when the police team was bringing him back to Lucknow after producing him in a court in Bijnor.

The police got a tip-off that Rana was present in the Budanpur area along with his gang members. The police teams rushed to the spot and laid a trap. In a few minutes, sensing the police's presence, they allegedly started firing at police. The police fired back in retaliation and gunned down on gangster who was identified as Rana. 

Rana was wanted by the police in Shahjahanpur, Bijnor, Amroha, and Sambhal.
