UP Police books home guard, associates for firing at a man in Meerut

The home guard has been identified as Deepak Kumar who reportedly had gotten into a fight with victim Rupak (20) two months ago

New Delhi, February 3

The UP Police have booked a home guard and his three accomplices for shooting at a young man dead in Putti village of Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh.

The deceased was identified as Rupak (20) a resident of Putti village.

The home guard has been identified as Deepak Kumar and his three accomplices as Monty, Abhishek and Anuj. 

The victim's grandfather lodged a complaint stating that when he and his family were returning home after attending a wedding function in the village when they saw his grandson being beaten by the four accused. When they rushed to rescue Rupak, they saw Deepak fired on his chest. He then fired at them and fled the spot. 

The victim was rushed to a hospital but he was declared brought dead.

The preliminary probe showed that Rupak and Deepak had allegedly been in a fight around two months back but the elders of the village were able to broker peace between them.

The reason behind the fight is yet to known.
The police have lodged a case of murder and begun further probe.
