While claiming to take ‘inspiration’ from Bollywood film, ‘Apharan’, two youngsters abducted an 18-year-old boy for Rs 10 lakh ransom and allegedly killed him in North Delhi’s Burari.
The police said victim was identified as Rohan (18). His father runs a business in the same area.
Both the accused who are 19-years-old hatched a plan to abduct Rohan. One of the accused works at his father’s showroom as a cleaner.
According to the police, the accused took Rohan to a birthday party and they planned to demand a ransom of Rs 10 lakhs. Rohan’s father reportedly alerted police on late at night that his son had left with the accused “for a birthday party” but hasn’t returned.
The police teams began hunting for him through technical surveillance and CCTV cameras. When the police put Rohna’s phone on surveillance, they found the location of the phone at Moradabad of UP.
DCP (North) Sagar Singh Khalsi stated that over 300 CCTV cameras were searched to ascertain the location of the victim and where could he be taken. The accused were spotted through surveillance and immediately arrested.
The accused led to police to an empty plot at Harit Vihar where Rohan’s body was recovered.
The police have booked the accused for abduction and murder under various sections of the IPC.
