Teen girl stalked by a man died by suicide in Agra

The family had moved to Agra after Firozabad police allegedly took no action on their complaint of harassment and stalking

New Delhi, June 7

A minor girl allegedly died by suicide at a village in Agra district after repeated stalking of a man who was harassing her severely. 

The girl was 16-years-old school girl and reported the matter to her family. The family had filed a complaint with police against the stalker. However, the accused wasn't arrested and kept stalking the girl. 

Hours after the girl died by suicide, the police arrested the 23-year-old accused from Firozabad. 

According to the girl’s family, they moved from their native village in Firozabad district due to constant stalking and harassment by the man. Due to constant harassment from the man, the family had shifted to Agra and the girl had to also stop going to school. The man followed her in Agra too and began stalking continuously. The family had filed a complaint at a local police station in Firozabad, but no action was taken, forcing the family to shift to Agra.

This is the third incident reported from Agra where teen girl died by suicide due to stalking and harassment.
