The rape accused had recently got bail in the case and was waiting for his lawyer in the court premises when he was shot dead

New Delhi, January 22

A retired Army jawaan allegedly shot dead a youth outside Gorakhpur court who had allegedly abducted and raped his daughter. 

The police said the deceased was 25-year-old man, who had abducted and raped the Army personnel’s 16-year-old daughter. 

The rape accused had recently got bail in the case. 

The police added that the former Army jawaan shot at him outside the court with his licensed pistol. 

As per the case details, the rape accused was waiting for his lawyer in the parking area where he was shot in the head. After hearing gunshots, the locals caught hold of the former Army jawaan and handed him over to police. 

The officials added that the ex-Army personnel was waiting for the accused to arrive in the court. The accused had called his lawyer and was waiting for him in the parking lot when he was shot in the head. 

The police added that the rape accused was arrested in March 2020 after the father filed a case against him for allegedly eloping with his daughter. The police had added charges of rape after the girl had given statement to police.
