In a gruesome double murder witnessed in Patiala, a man killed his mother, chopped her body into pieces and attempted to burn it only because she refused to lend him money to buy drugs and then killed his step brother for supporting the mother.

The victim was identified as Paramjit Kaur and her accused son was identified as Gurwinder SIngh alias Ginda.

The police then arrested Gurwinder and two of his aides Rajinder Singh alias Raja, and Ranjit Singh alias Rana.

The police had received a complaint from one Bhagwan Singh of Kangla village who stated that his cousin sister, Paramjit Kaur and her younger son, Jaswinder Singh alias Yodha, had been hacked to death by her elder son Gurwinder Singh.

Paramjit Kaur was first married to one Janpal Singh, with whom she had conceived Gurwinder. After her divorce from Janpal, she got remarried to one Raghbir Singh, who passed away in 2011. Paramjit had conceived Jaswinder during her second marriage.

The police rushed to the spot and found Paramjit’s half-burnt skeleton in the house and several blood stains on the floor.

During interrogation, Gurwinder confessed that on June 25, around 10 am, he along with two of his accomplices, first hacked his mother Paramjit Kaur to death with a sharp-edged weapon. Then on the same day around 1 pm, they killed Jaswinder Singh (20) when he returned home. They loaded Jaswinder’s body in a car and dumped it in a canal near Khanauri. After returning home, the accused proceeded to chop up Paramjit’s body into pieces and tried to set it on fire by pouring kerosene oil on it.

Gurwinder used to ask for money from Paramjit to buy drugs, but she refused and since Jaswinder supported his mother, the accused planned to eliminate both of them.

The accused have been booked for murder, destroying evidence and other charges under the IPC.
