The photo shows him riding a bike without a helmet. Cherian said in the tweet, “Thank you Pune Police. I look good. I will pay the challan though.”

The Pune Police’s recent drive for helmets on social media added a new fanfare with a Pune citizen reply to a traffic challan on Twitter and Pune Police replying back with remarks of helmet going well with his biker jacket. 

The exchange of tweets between a twitter user, Melvin Cherian and Pune Police has garnered a lot of attention on Twitter. 

Cherian whose handle identifies him as the co-owner of a health-tech firm, posted a photo of the traffic challan on Twitter tagging the Pune police. The photo shows him riding a bike without a helmet. Cherian said in the tweet, “Thank you Pune Police. I look good. I will pay the challan though.”

The Pune police shortly replied outwitting him, “Sure. P.S: A black helmet will go very well with that nice black jacket though. #WearAHelmet”. 

The Pune police recently launched a dedicated drive to take action against bikes having modified silencers that cause a lot of noise pollution and the riders without helmets in the city. 

The police are carrying out intensive campaigning against pollution makers on roads and ensuring the noise pollution levels comes down. The drive is especially designed for the bike riders who have modified bikes, sports bikes and bikes causing more noise pollution to keep regular check on them. 

Simultaneously, the police are carrying out extensive checking for helmets alongwith noisy horns on the bikers and riders in the city.
