Police constable killed by unknow assailants in UP

The constable who was on duty was chasing two youth and later found dead with injuries on his body

New Delhi, May 11

A police constable was attacked and killed by unidentified assailants near a highway police outpost in Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh. 

The victim was identified as Bhedjeet Singh (36) who hailed from Mathura and was posted at the same outpost in Jalaun.. Singh was found lying dead in a pool of blood with injuries on his body. 

It has been suspected that the assailants used a sharp-edged weapon to stab the constable several times. 

During preliminary inquiry, the police found that Singh was on patrol duty at the time of the incident and local residents told the police that they saw him chasing the two youths. 

The police suspect that the youth in order to flee attacked the constable and fled from the spot. Several teams have been formed to nab the accused while police are trying to collect more detaisl on the suspects.
