Pastor in Gurugram accused of conversion assaulted by men claiming to be from Hindu Sena

The priest had held a prayer meeting at a hall in Kherki Daula in Gurugram where a group of 25 men barged assaulted the priest claiming it be a conversion event

A priest of a Catholic church in Kherki Daula in Gurugram, accused of holding a conversion event was thrashed by a group of over 25 men claiming to be from Hindu Sena. 

The police said that the incident took place on June 4 at a private hall in Kherki Daula where a prayer meeting was held by the priest. The group of men barged into the hall and assaulted the priest. 

According to the police, the men claimed it was a conversion event. They asked him to stop it and when he questioned them, one of the accused slapped him. Only six persons were found sitting in the hall at the prayer meet. 

The police stated that the accused men would be identified, traced and arrested. 

The police have lodged an FIR under IPC sections 147 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 295-A (acts to outrage religious feelings), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
