Over 300 Sub-Inspectors from 14 states and UTs join Delhi Police

The new SIs joining Delhi Police has one Ph.D holder, 124 Post Graduates, 102 B. Techs and 3 BCA graduates

New Delhi, October 1

The Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana took the salute at the passing out parade of probationary Sub-Inspectors (held at Police Training College in Jharoda Kalan, 

381 Sub Inspectors (151 Females & 230 Males) of 46th batch completed their training and will now be joining various districts and units of Delhi Police. 

The officials said that among the passouts, there is one Ph.D holder, 124 Post Graduates, 102 B. Techs and 3 BCA, besides the SIs of this pan-India batch come from different regions- Haryana - 140, Delhi - 94, Uttar Pradesh - 62, Rajasthan - 52, Bihar - 13, Madhya Pradesh - 08, Jharkhand - 03, Punjab - 02, Uttrakhand - 02, and one each from Maharashtra, Nagaland, Chandigarh, J&K and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. 

SI Ashu Rani was selected as ‘All-Round Best Cadet’ of the batch.

CP Rakesh Asthana who was the Chief Guest of the event took the salute and inspected the ceremonial parade. He congratulated all the fresh inductees and lauded the drill instructors and PTC staff for imparting excellent training, which is the backbone of police force. He also commended the endurance shown by women SIs who successfully completed the rigorous training shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts. 

Asthana stated that the newly inducted Sub-Inspectors will be vital in strengthening evidence based policing at a time when Delhi Police has gone ahead with separation of law & order and investigation functions to further strengthen investigation. 

The SIs also play very important part in Beat policing setup in establishing public-police interface. He urged the Sub-Inspector pass outs to be sensitive & compassionate towards public at large, especially weaker sections, senior citizens, women & children and always keep people’s interest on top while performing their duties. 

Asthana exhorted them to make optimal use of technology in conducting investigation, gathering evidence and for prosecution to outsmart the criminals in the changing scenario when the cyber crime has taken over conventional crimes.

He noted that the batch has a large number of engineering and technology graduates who could put their education to good use in solving new age crimes like cyber crimes, mobile/internet frauds & bank frauds etc. He pressed them to strengthen the constitution and law of the land by performing their duty with bravery and balanced nature, with an impartial outlook. 

Asthana emphasized that IOs have to keep themselves updated and plan strategies and use the laws effectively as per latest crime trends and patterns. He said Delhi Police is the best police force of the country and wished that the new inductees would take the force to greater heights. 

Virender Singh, Spl CP, Training welcomed the Chief Guest and other attendees and presented a brief on training module in which they have been imparted knowledge of wide spectrum of topics  besides regular outdoor physical activities and sports.  

Experts from cyber crime, forensics, autopsy surgeons and judicial officers delivered them lectures on their respective domains. They have also been trained in un-armed combat and giring by modern weapons, besides skills in anti-terrorist measures. 

The senior officers including Spl CPs, Jt CPs and DCPs attended the ceremony which was witnessed by parents and relatives of the trainees. The event was also streamed live on YouTube.
