Noida Police arrest two brothers for killing their sister in the name of protecting family's "honour"

The accused first reported their sister missing while police found a dead body from Hindon river in Ghaziabad

In a case of honour killing, the Noida Police arrested two men for allegedly killing their 30-year-old sister and dumping her body in the Hindon River. The accused filed a missing complaint at a police station after dumping her body.

The accused have been identified as Sartaj (28) and Shahrukh (32) both residents of phase 2.

As per the case details, a dead body was recovered on March 13 from the Hindon River. The postmortem report stated that the woman was strangled to death. In the meantime, a person named Sartaj filed a missing complaint at the Surajpur Police station. 

After the accused filed a missing persons report, they expressed a "doubt" that the dead body could be of their sister's. When the police interrogated them further, they learnt that their sister and she was married to a person named Sajid and had some matrimonial disputes. 

The brothers suspected their sister drinks and when they found it was true, they first killed her and then took her body in a car and threw it into the Hindon river. the accused claimed that they killed the woman to protect the honour of the family. 

The police said Najma and Sajid used to live in Surajpur but had been living separately for the last year.

The police have lodged a case under IPC sections 302 (Murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender).
