NIA files chargesheet against four in Latehar firing case of Jharkhand

The accused were involved in burning of vehicles, exploding bombs while carrying out indiscriminate firing near Checkpost No.1 at Tetriakhad Colliery by some unknown persons resulting in injuries to civilians

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed second supplementary chargesheet before NIA Special Court in Ranchi against four in Latehar firing case of Jharkhand.

The accused was identified as Pankaj Karmali alias Khetia of Jharkhand, Vikash Anand Ojha of Bihar, Akash Kumar Roy and Kundan Kumar of Ranchi in Jharkhand.

The four persons have been chargesheeted under sections 120B,147, 148, 149, 353, 504, 506, 307, 427, 435, 386, 387 of Indian Penal Code, Sec 120B of IPC r/w Sections 25(1)(B), 26, 27 & 35 of Arms Act, Sec 3 & 4 of Explosive Substance Act, Sec 16(1)(b), 18, 20 & 23 of UA(P) Act, Sec 17 of CLA Act, 1908.

The case pertains to burning of vehicles, exploding bombs while carrying out indiscriminate firing near Checkpost No.1 at Tetriakhad Colliery by some unknown persons resulting in injuries to civilians. 

According to the NIA, the accused are members of Sujit Sinha and Aman Sahu gang. Pankaj Karmali alias Khetia was the part of criminal conspiracy and was involved in the terror attack in Tetariyakhad colliery in December 2020 in order to extort money for the terrorist gang. 

Vikash Anand Ojha alias Abhishek, on the directions of accused Aman Sahu, had received consignments of arms and ammunition from the suppliers and further provided it to accused Akash Kumar Roy alias Monu, who had further provided the consignments to gang members for terrorist activities. 

Akash Kumar Roy and Kundan Kumar had provided harbour to one of main members of terrorist gang  Shahrukh Ansari. The NIA had filed two charge sheets against 20 accused persons.

The NIA is further investigating the case.
