Mumbai Police books a computer engineer for objectionable tweet on woman police constable

The accused allegedly posted a tweet containing disparaging remarks against a woman constable and another woman employee of the BMC

The Mumbai Police booked a computer engineer for objectionable tweet on woman police constable and tagging the city Police Commissioner on Twitter.

The police have identified the man as Ramchandra Ambradkar, who has been given him a notice to present himself before the police station to join the investigation in the case.

The police said that the incident took place on May 24 when the accused allegedly posted a tweet containing disparaging remarks against a woman constable and another woman employee of the BMC.

The woman constable, who was part of the Nirbhaya squad, along with the civic official, had gone to Ambredkar’s building in connection with a call that was received for action. The officer said  when the duo reached there, the accused got into an argument. Later, Ambradkar tweeted to the Mumbai Police Commissioner where he made derogatory remarks against the two women, police added. 

The police have registered a case under section 500 (defamation), 509 ( word insulting the modesty of a woman) and a section of the Information Technology Act.
