Minor girl in Ludhiana plans and cooks up her fake abduction

The police found the girl from a friend's house and handed her over to her parents

New Delhi, August 10

A minor girl from Ludhiana in Punjab allegedly planned her own abduction on What's App with her classmate to meet her friend.

The incident took place in Bhamian Kalan area of Ludhiana district of Punjab. 

The Ludhiana police said that the girl is a student of Class 6 at a government school. Later, the girl managed to convince one of her classmates to inform her parents that she had been kidnapped by five persons outside her school. 

As she did not return from school till July 9 afternoon, the girl's parents started looking for her and reached her classmate's home.

The girl's classmate cooked up a story about her kidnapping and then the parents approached Jamalpur police. The police swing into action and launched a hunt for the girl.

The police also questioned the classmate who told police the truth. Later, the student was found at her friend's house in Happy Colony. She was handed over to her parents within three hours. 

The police added that the girls had made a plan on WhatsApp to meet and thus the student had staged fake kidnapping.

According to the police, the girl had no ulterior motive but the use of social media at a young age allegedly drove her to a twisted plan of cooking up her own abduction triggering panic in her family, police.

The police had advised the parents of the girl to counsel her on the reason behind taking such a step.
