Manipur couple assaulted in Delhi by a group in Southeast Delhi

The victims belong to the Meitei community and the accused to the Poumai community

New Delhi, November 4

Four people from Manipur, including two women were assaulted by a group after the latter sought help from them to book a cab in Southeast Delhi. 

The police stated that the assaulters sought help of the couple to book a cab at wee hours. The couple agreed to help. However, soon there was a fight between them. The couple was accompanied by the man's sister. 

The police received a PCR call at around 2:30am about a fight. The victims belong to the Meitei community and the accused to the Poumai community.

The CCTV footage of the incident shows a group of people punching and kicking the complainant, his friend, and the two women. When they agreed to help and were waiting for the ride to be confirmed. When the complainant objected, the accused became aggressive and assaulted them. The accused called more people at the spot and they too started assaulting the couple and the sister. 

The police have registered an FIR against unidentified persons under IPC sections of causing hurt, rioting and outraging modesty of a woman.
