Man slits wrist, throat at Ghaziabad police station

The victim's wife had filed a missing persons report after he didn't return home for three days

New Delhi, November 27

A man in Ghaziabad allegedly slashed his throat and wrist at a police station leading to a choas among police. 

The police said the man turned up at the police station after cops were searching for him following a missing person complaint filed by his wife when he did not come back home for three days.

The victim was identified as Omprakash (30), who is a daily wager by profession. He stays with his family members, including his wife and two children, in Ghaziabad’s Nandgram area. 

The police added that it come to the fore that he was having an extramarital affair with another woman for the last three years. He and his wife used to have frequent fights over his alleged affair.

The officials said that this led to an argument between the Omprakash and his wife and after he went to work, he did not come back for three days.

The police managed to contact Omprakash and asked him to report to the Nandgram police station. 

Omprakash reportedly confessed that he wanted to stay with a woman who resided in the same neighbourhood and he and his wife frequently fought over the issue.

The police added that while talking to the police, he suddenly, pulled out a blade and used it to slash his wrist. When the police tried to stop him, he slit his throat with the blade.  

He was immediately rushed to a hospital where his condition was reported stable.
