Man sets himself on fire outside Parliament in Delhi

The victim was working at a firm in Gurugram and struggling for work since Covid lockdown

New Delhi, April 7

A man allegedly tried to set himself on fire near the Parliament building. The police immediately rescued within minutes and sent to a hospital.

The police stated that the incident took place outside Transport Bhawan in Sansad Marg around 4 pm on April 6.

The man a resident of Rohini allegedly poured an inflammable substance all over himself and set himself on fire.

The police stated that the man was hospitalized where his condition has been reported stable but has suffered over 50% burn injuries. 

The primary inquiry showed that he worked at a private firm in Gurgaon but lost his job due to the Covid lockdown. 

The police stated that he is unfit to record a statement and after his condition improves, they would be able to investigate on the motive behind the incident.
