A man was assaulted after being held hostage for an hour untill the assailants fled with car in Gurugram. The helpless man had to borrow a passerby's phone to call the police control room for him.
The accused were four in number and yet unidentified while the police have begun scanning CCTV footage for the same.
The police stated that the incident took place around 7.15 pm on February 15 when the driver identified as Shyam Sunder, was waiting for his employer in an SUV after dropping him off at a mall on MG road in Gurgaon.
As per his complaint to police, a man came holding out his phone to show the photo of a person and asked if he knew him. As he was replying to him, three of his associates suddenly barged into the car. They pushed him onto the back seat and put me under the seat and started thrashing him. They snatched his phone and drove the car towards Delhi.
They dumped him near a drain in Chhawla in Delhi and escaped in the car and Shyam sought help of passer by to inform police.
The accused have also stolen a laptop, an I-pad, and Rs 75,000 cash alongwith the car.
A case was registered against the accused under section 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) of the Indian Penal Code at sector 29 police station, the police said.
