Ludhiana woman killed by landlord for refusing physical contact

The woman and her husband with kids who had moved from Bihar had started living at the house of the accused from February 4

A woman tenant in Ludhiana was brutally murdered by her owner for refusing to enter in a physical relationship with him. The woman's body was recovered from railway tracks to make it look like suicide. 

The accused identified as Jagjit Singh alias Jagga of Pawa village. The victim was identified as Mumnni Devi (28), who had come to Ludhiana from Bihar on February 4.

Her husband, Rupesh filed a complaint with the police against the accused the landlord was keeping an eye on her and often harassed her.

According to his complaint, the accused called his wife to his home asking for help in changing the gas cylinder. After sometime his wife returned home and told him that the landlord forced her to establish physical relation with him. When he objected to it the accused started threatening him. After some time his wife went missing. He went to police station to lodge a complaint.

Meanwhile, he came to know that the body of his wife was found lying on the railway track. He suspected that the accused had dumped the body of his wife after murdering her.

The police have sent the body to the civil hospital for the postmortem to ascertain more details on the death. The police have booked the accused for murder among other charges under the Indian Penal Code.
