Lucknow Police arrests three gangsters in an encounter, wanted in murder of rlwy contractor

The Lucknow Police arrested three criminals from Bihar after an exchange of fire in the Cantonment area of the city.

The accused were identified as Kashif, Razi Ahmed Khan and Faisal Khan, all members of the Bihar based gangster Raees Khan. 

The police said that Kashif is involved in the murder of railway contractor Virendra Thakur, which took place last month in Neelmatha area of the city.

According to the police, Kashif was present with other accused on the murder spot, the role of Razi and Faisal in the murder case is being looked into. Thakur was shot dead at his residence on June 25. He was killed in the presence of his wife and two children.

The police had earlier said that the murder was a fallout of a love affair and recently arrested one Bittu Jaiswal.

The Lucknow police had received a top off that members of the Rahees Khan gang from Bihar had arrived in Lucknow and were planning to commit a crime. The police laid a trap at Yadunath crossing falling under the Cantonment area where the trio spotted on a motorcycle. 

Whe the police teams signalled to stop them, they fired at police to evade arrest. The police team fired in retaliation and the bullet hit the leg of one of the accused. 

He was shifted to the hospital where his condition was reported stable. 

The police team also seized three pistols, cartridges and other items from their possession.
