The Uttar Pradesh Police's SP Gonda allegedly found irregularities in the office of the Joint Director (Prosecution) in Gonda during an inspection however the SP has been accused of “abusing and threatening” the official.

Gonda SP Akash Tomar had conducted an inspection at the office of Joint Director (JD) Ram Achraj Chaturvedi located on the campus of the SP office on May 11. The JD wrote a letter to the Rajya Abhiyojan Adhikari Seva Sangh which went viral on social media.

According to Chaturvedi, on the morning of May 11, Tomar visited his residence and asked for the list of the top 10 criminals and the action report against them, so far. The SP said that Allahabad High Court has summoned him in person and started levelling false allegations against me. He accused me of raising objections if money is not paid when legal opinion is sought for making the gang chart.

Chaturvedi stated that when he objected, the SP abused and threatened him with writing complaints to his senior officials. He alleged that Tomar harassed and threatened him despite not being his supervising officer.

Members of the Rajya Abhiyojan Adhikari Seva Sangh, an association of the state prosecuting officers protested against the Gonda SP across the state by tying the black ribbon around their arms while performing their duties and handed over memorandums to senior government officials, demanding the suspension and departmental action against Tomar.

The association has now filed a written to Principal Secretary (Home Department) Sanjay Prasad and Additional Director General (Prosecution) Ashutosh Pandey. They have also written to UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra demanding suspension and departmental action against SP Akash Tomar.

The association maintained that the prosecution department was separated from the police department in 1974 and senior police officers are no more our controlling authority.

Gonda SP Akash Tomar has denied all the allegations while the association has demanded his suspension.
