The prisoner lodged in jail no 8 was found hanging in the toilet of the same complex where gangster Tillu Tajpuriya was killed

New Delhi, May 24

A young inmate died by suicide at Delhi’s Tihar jail prompting the prisons department to order a inquiry into the incident. 

The inmate was identified as Javed, 26-years-old and convicted for a robbery case in Malviya Nagar of South Delhi. He was lodged in jail no 8 of Tihar. 

The officials stated that he died by suicide in the common toilet area of the enclosure for inmates (first-time offenders), at around 5 pm. 

The prisons department has also initiated a an inquiry by a judicial magistrate into the matter.

Notorious gangster Tillu Tajpuriya, who was brutally stabbed to death by fellow inmates, was also lodged in the same jail.
