The Gurugram Police arrested a BSF officer who allegedly granted fake construction contracts to real estate companies at National Security Guard (NSG) campus in Manesar and cheated a real estate firm of Rs. 125 crores.
The BSF officer was identified as Praveen Yadav was posted with NSG on deputation with NSG headquarters. Yadav is a resident of Nuh and joined the BSF in 2012. His deputation with NSG ended in May 2021.
The police also arrested his wife, Mamta Yadav, sister Ritu and a property dealer Dinesh.
The Gurugram police seized Rs 14 crore in cash, jewellery worth Rs 1 cr and seven luxury cars, including a BMW, Jeep and Mercedes.
The Gurugram police stated that he cheated the real estate firm of Rs. 125 crores.
The officials added that Yadav got all the money of the fraud transferred to a fake account in the name of NSG. This account was opened by his sister Ritu Yadav, who is a manager in Axis Bank.
As per the investigation, Yadav had suffered huge losses in stock trading and went neck-deep in debt. He continued to invest in the share market by borrowing money from people. He later paid Rs 50 cr to his debtors till the time he left the NSG campus in 2021.
To clear his debt, the officer planned to cheat construction companies by offering them fake construction tenders.
Yadav was recently posted in Tripura capital Agartala. By cheating people, Yadav had amassed huge wealth that he applied for voluntary retirement, officials added.
