Gurugram Police arrest two who threatened and extorted money in the name of CBI, ED

The accused demanded of Rs 4 crores of extortion sum to withdrawing complaints registered against the complainant related to building construction or else face CBI, ED raids

The Gurugram Police arrested two persons who were threatening to conduct ED/CBI raid and extorting money from the citizens in Gurugram. 

The accused have been identified as Yashpal Arora and his son Rahul Arora. 

The police had received a complaint from a resident Yashpal Batra. In the complaint, he said that accused Yashpal Arora, his son, his wife and their accomplice had been demanding Rs 4 crores from him for withdrawing complaints registered against him related to building construction. 

The complainant said that the accused claimed to be officials of ED and CBI and threatened to conduct a raid by ED and CBI officials at his house if he did not pay the money.

The Gurugram Police formed raiding teams and laid a trap. The police instructed the complainant to pay Rs 2 lakhs to the accused. 

As per the plan, the victim took Rs 2 lakhs cash to be paid to Yashpal Arora. Yashpal Arora sent one of his companions to collect the cash. The companion took the cash from Batra and handed it over to Arora. The police team caught Yashpal Arora and his son Rahul Arora red-handed.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that they have extorted Rs 10 lakh on an earlier occasion from Batra. 

The Gurugram Police have booked the accused under sections 384, 385, 386, 389, 506 and 120-B of IPC.
