Gangster Tillu Tajpurya Killing- 90 officials from Tihar Jail reshuffled

11 deputy superintendents, 12 assistant superintendents, 13 head wardens, 57 jail wardens, two head matrons, and four drivers were transferred to other jails

Following the murder and subsequent investigation into the case of Tillu Tajpuriya, the Delhi Prisons Department ordered the transfer of 99 officials to other jails in the city amid security concerns at Delhi’s Tihar jail. 

DG Prisons Sanjay Beniwal passed an order was released stating the transfer of the jail officials for better security arrangements.

According to the order, 11 deputy superintendents, 12 assistant superintendents, 13 head wardens, 57 jail wardens, two head matrons, and four drivers were transferred to other jails. At least six jail officials from jail 8 and 9 have been transferred. The officials have already suspended seven Tamil Nadu SP jail officials from jail 8 for negligence. 

The order mentioned that All the above-mentioned officers/officials hereby stand relieved with immediate effect with immediate effect without waiting for formal relieving from concerned jail/offices. Non-compliance with the order shall be viewed seriously…This issue with the approval of DG Prisons". 

DG Prisons had reviewed the security arranegements in Tihar Jail and submitted the report o Delhi L-G Vinay Kumar Saxena after which eight jail officials were suspended. The police staff from Tamil Nadu state police that was deployed in Tihar Jail was sent back to its cadre here the Tamil Nadu Police is probing the laxity of their work at Tihar Jail. 

DG Prisons also heled meeting CAPFs to chalk out new security arrangements and take punitive action against officers found negligent.
