Former DGP Karnataka, Praveen Sood takes charge as Director of CBI
Incumbent CBI Director Subosh Kumar Jaiswal retired after 37 years of service as an IPS officer and Praveen Sood brings with him similar experience to take CBI to new heights

CBI Director Praveen Sood takes charge from Subodh Kumar Jaiswal
Senior IPS officer Praveen Sood assumed charge as the new CBI director on Thursday and he will be in the post for two years.
Praveen Sood was appointed as the the Director of CBI on May 14 in an order issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
On his last working day, outgoing director Subodh Kumar Jaiswal handed Sood the charge of the agency at its headquarters here.
During his 37 years of service, Sood served in various capacities in the Karnataka Police and he is known for his hands-on approach. He had supervised investigation of high-profile cases involving high net-worth individuals and matters having inter-state and international ramifications. He also supervised probes in areas such as cyber crime and information technology.
Sood, a 1986 batch IPS officer and former DGP of Karnataka is going to serve as the CBI Director for a fixed tenure of two years.
