Following the murder of gangster Tillu Tajpuriya in Tihar Jail, the Delhi Police are conducting raids in Delhi-NCR to look for gang members and associates who are in touch with jailed gangsters.
The raids and searches were being conducted in over 20 locations in Delhi and Haryana.
DCP (Dwarka) M Harsha Vardhan stated that the police recovered around Rs 20 lakh in cash from a hideout of a gangster and suspect that some criminal is working with the jailed gangsters. They added said the cash along with weapons and illegal substances were recovered soon after Tillu’s killing. The police also detained a few gang members.
The officer further added that it is suspected that a few gangsters who are out on bail will re-group and conspire to avenge Tillu’s killing. We are taking preventive measures and detaining the men who can disturb peace in the area.
Tillu, the leader of the Tillu gang, was allegedly killed by associates of the Gogi gang—Yogesh Tonda, Deepak Titar, Rajesh, and Riyaz Khan—inside Jail No 8 on Tuesday morning. The four men told the police they eliminated Tillu because he was the alleged mastermind in gangster Jitendra Gogi’s murder at Rohini court.
The assailants had climbed down from their barracks to reach the ground floor of the jail where Tillu was lodged and stabbed Tajpuriya over 90 times with a sua (iron road) to kill him.
