The Delhi Police have registered an FIR against a leader of the Maharana Pratap Sena after a woman alleged that he sexually assaulted her at the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Bhavan in Delhi.

The complainant said the political leader took her to the state guest house in New Delhi on the pretext of meeting two ministers, but abused her. The accused allegedly got one of the rooms at the Bhavan opened for him by taking a senior officer’s name.

The woman filed a complaint at Chanakyapuri police station. Three officials from UP Bhavan are said to have been suspended till further orders.

The letter mentioned the names of two reception staffers, a junior assistant and a senior officer who showed “gross indifference and negligence” in the matter.

UP ACS SP Goyal in a letter issued stated that the government has accessed CCTV footage of the UP Bhawan where the accused was seen entering the premises with an unknwn woman on May 26. He left from there alongwith her. The list of dignitaries (who can access rooms) is fixed. He did not fall in the category of permissibility in the order of this list. There was no justification for showing the room to him.

The police have now sealed the room for investigation. He had reportedly entered Room no. 122. The police are analyzing the CCTV footage while the woman has recorded her statement with police.

The UP government said they will lodge a case against the officials and take disciplinary action.
