Delhi Police arrest three for running an extortion racket by trapping people on dating apps

The accused targetted LGBTQ community through dating apps and extorted money by filming them nude

New Delhi, May 29

The Delhi Police arrested three persons who were allegedly conning people on dating apps and running an extortion racket.

The accused have been identified as  Arun Kumar, Vishal Kohli and Rajesh Kumar who were trapping people from LGBTQ community.

The police had received a complaint from a a man who stated that he came across a person on a dating app for LGBTQ community. On April 24, when the man took the complainant to a room at Sriniwaspuri, two men barged in, forced the complainant to remove his clothes and filmed him.

The complainant told police that the accused later threatened to make the video viral if he did not pay up Rs 2 lakhs. 

In another case, the complainant was taken to a room in a village by a man who, along with three others, thrashed and sexually abused him before extorting Rs 33,000 from him. 

The police stated that the the accused were running an extortion racket that has been now busted.
