The Delhi Police Special Cell arrested DJ, a wrestler and their accomplice for allegedly smuggling illegal arms into the national capital.
The accused were identified as Pankaj Kumar and Jitender from Rohini.
The duo were caught with over 24 semi-automatic pistols.
According to the special cell, the duo were supposed to deliver the arms consignment in Delhi based on which a trap was laid to arrest them in Rohini.
The special cell had received input that the accused were going to arrive in the Rohini area. The raiding team of the officials found a suspicious car arriving in the vicinity and when the car was checked the special cell found the said consignment.
A few days before this arrest, the special cell had arrested one Yogesh Patel from Sarai Kale Khan with 12 pistols.
DCP (Special Cell) Rajeev Ranjan Singh stated that Yogesh worked as a DJ at parties in Delhi. He got into illegal arms trading for more money. Yogesh spent between Rs 8,000 and Rs 12,000 to buy one semi-automatic pistol and sold them for Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000.
The officials added that Pankaj Kumar has participated in state-level wrestling championships. However, due to Covid, he couldn’t participate anymore, which led him to get into illegal arms trading and team up with the other accused.
