Delhi Police Special Cell arrests two inmates from Tihar Jail in Tajpuriya killing

The arrested inmates, Attar Rehman and Chavanni, who are also lodged in Jail No. 8 had aided the four assailants and aides of deceased gangster Jitendra Gogi, in murdering Tajpuriya

The Delhi Police Special Cell have arrested two inmates from Tihar Jail in connection with the murder of gangster Tillu Tajpuriya inside Delhi’s Tihar Jail. 

The accused have been identified as Attar Rehman and Chavanni, who are also lodged in Jail No. 8. While Chavanni is a local gangster and involved in assault cases, Rehman is a convict in a kidnapping case from Gujarat. 

Tillu Tajpuriya alias Sunil Baliyan was allegedly stabbed to death by four rival gangsters inside a cell early morning. The police had arrested four inmates and aides of Jitendra Gogi- Deepak Titar, Yogesh Tunda, Riyaz Khan and Rajesh. Tajpuriya was brutally murdered by the accused by stabbing over 90 times as the jail staff and policemen watched. 

After the initial investigation by local police, the case was transferred to the Special Cell. The arrested inmates would be interrogated by Special Cell as they continue staying in Tihar. 

The investigation into the case and analyzing the CCTV footage carefully, the Special Cell foudn out that the four assailants were aided by other inmates in murdering Tajpuriya. The investigation revealed Chavanni and Rehman were present at the spot at the time of the murder and helped the accused. 

The investigations showed that Rehman helped the accused get rid of the weapon after the assault. Chavanni also helped the gangsters by putting a bedsheet on the CCTV to cover the camera.

The camera in the open area however recorded the whole incident where Tajpuriya was seen getting first attacked in the cell and later in the open area where his body stabbed several times even though he had died.
