Delhi Police IFSO unit busts a gang who duped over 6000 persons in the name of Ayurvedic company

Over 6000 persons have been cheated across India to the tune of Rs. 1.94 crores

The Delhi Police IFSO unit busted a gang of cheats involved in selling inferior quality Ayurvedic medicine of reputed companies through fake call centres. 

The IFSO unit received a complaint from Sachin Dahiya, Manager Admin, Unayur Marketing Pvt. Ltd. (UMPL) lodged a complaint with IFSO wherein it was alleged that fake, spurious, misbranded and adulterated medicines are being delivered to their customers by some unknown persons who represent themselves as the employees of UMPL and call the clients/ patients from different mobile numbers and lure them by offering to sell medicines at discounted rates, thereby causing wrongful loss to the clients and wrongful gain to themselves.

It was also alleged that the fraudsters have also procured the data of Unayur Marketing Pvt. Ltd. (UMPL) and around 6372 clients/ patients have been defrauded by them to the tune of Rs 1.94 Crores since the year 2017. 

During course of investigation, relevant account details from various courier companies and Call Details Records of alleged numbers were collected and analyzed and it came to notice that accounts were opened from Delhi and Lucknow. Further, the locations of the alleged numbers were also found in both the cities. However, the addresses of the alleged persons were not traceable. The team the  conducted comprehensive analysis and carried out exhaustive field investigation and finally succeeded in tracing three Call Centres located in Swaroop Nagar (Delhi), Indira Nagar and Jankipuram (Lucknow). 

Consequently, the team conducted simultaneous raids at all the three locations and apprehended the accused persons. Further, a large quantity of inferior quality Ayurvedic medicines were recovered at their instance.

DCP (IFSO) Prashant Gautam said, "Rahul Singh is the mastermind of this network. He was running fake call centre at 1453/16, Indira Nagar, Lucknow along with other partners namely Ugarsen, Samar Singh and Jitender Singh. He had procured the data of the Complaint Company from one Rajesh Singh, an employee of Airtel through a chain of persons. He further sold the data to Vikas Pal r/o Delhi and others on 60% commission. The telecallers at these Call Centres would lure the customers of Complainant Company on the pretext of discounted medicines and would sell them inferior quality Ayurvedic medicines. 

The accused have been identified as Vikas Pal, Sonu Pal from Swaroop Vihar, Rajesh Singh from Hanuman Chowk, Ashutosh Kumar from Paschim Vihar in Delhi, Rahul Singh of Barabanki, Samar, Ugrasen Singh, Jitender Kumar Singh from Barabanki in UP, Rohit Singh from Bahraich in UP, Satish Singh from Lakhimpur Kheri in UP. 

The police seized 42 mobile phones, seven laptops, inferior quality Ayurvedic medicines and data of UMPL, KUDOS.
