The Delhi Crime Branch arrested eight persons belonging to multiple gangs, including those of Kala Jathedi and Lawrence Bishnoi for operating three international extortion modules through juveniles.
Special CP (Crime) Ravindra Kumar Yadav said, "the extortion racket was working in a well oiled manner where the gangs would recruit juveniles through social media and hand over a list of people to target and extort money from. The extorted was transferred through hawala channels to gang leaders".
The case came to the fore after a firing incident was reported outside a house on April 23. The target in this case was a person who was threatened repeatedly over the call by a member of Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, and asked to pay up Rs two crore.
The case was transferred to the crime branch for investigation. The investigators analyzed the CCTV footage where three young boys were seen who were later traced and apprehended from Dhaula Kuan.
Special CP Yadav stated that during interrogation, the accused had said that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang member had demanded Rs 2 crore from the target but he did not respond, due to which Sampat Nehra, one of the shooters of the Bishnoi gang, allegedly arranged shooters from Rajasthan to carry out the murder.
Another extortion racket which was busted included sharpshooters of the Naresh Sethi gang where they targeted a property dealer. The third case included the arrest of three gang members of the Kala Jathedi and Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
The accused revealed that in the third case, all the juveniles were contacted by a man named, Priyavart, who allegedly contacted Sunny and asked him to kill his business partner. He asked him to fire at an electronics shop in his village in Delhi and extort money from his owner.
The accused also were in touch with gangsters including Virender Pratap, Rohit Godara and Goldy Brar.
