The body was found lying in a seven foot deep pit in Sector 47 of Gurugram

New Delhi, December 6

A decomposed body of a woman was found in a residential area of Gurgaon’s Sector 47. 

The police said the woman is yet to be identified but suspected to be in her 30s. 

The police said the incident was reported by the cleaning staff who were cutting grass in the area and complained of foul smell emanating from the pit. The staff informed the police and a team from Sadar police station rushed to the spot.

The officials said that the body had to be recovered from the seven-foot-deep pit. The body is suspected to be lying in the pit since last three to four days. 

The preliminary investigation shows that the woman is a native of West Bengal however her name is unknown. The police said no external injuries were found on her body. 

The body was sent to the hospital for autopsy, which will also confirm the cause of her death. 

The police have started inquest proceedings have been initiated under section 174 of CrPC.
