Convict who was jailed for raping and robbing a Danish woman out on parole thrashed to death

A convict who was out on parole after being convicted of raping and robbing a 51-year-old Danish woman in New Delhi, was beaten to death by a group of men in Paharganj area of Delhi.

The police stated that the incident took place near the railway tracks at Paharganj. The deceased was identified as Mohd Raza.

The police added that Raza and three of his friends were severely injured after being attacked by a group of men in a fight over “supremacy” in the area. Two groups fought with each other over the supremacy in the area. 

The police had received a PCR call where they were informed about a man lying on the road. The police teams rushed there and found one dead while three injured lying on the ground. They were shifted to a hospital where Raza was declared ‘brought dead’.

According to the police, Raza was held in 2014 along with eight other men for allegedly raping and robbing a 51-year-old Danish woman. The woman was a tourist who had come to the railway station after getting lost. She asked the men for directions but they allegedly took her to a secluded spot and took turns raping her. In 2016, all accused, including three juveniles, were convicted by the court. One accused in the case, Shyam Lal, died in Tihar Jail.

Raza was released on parole and was back home when he and his friends were attacked.
