Communal clashes erupt in Bihar during Ramnavami procession

Communal clashes erupted in Sadaram and Bihasharif over Ram Navami processions leaving over 12 persons injured. 

The police said that in Nalanda, about a dozen people were injured. Two communities clashed with other hurling stones, damaging public property and attacking each other. 

Several houses and shops were torched, public property damaged during the clashes in areas like Shahajalal Pir, Sona Patti, Qadir Ganj and Navratna Pir where angry mobs also indulged in heavy stone-pelting, injuring many people, including two police personnel. 

The Nalanda police said though the Ram Navmi procession passed peacefully through Biharsharif two groups clashed when a shobha yatra was being carried out from Hospital Road to Baba Maniram Ka Akhada.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is going to address a public gathering in Rohtas district on April 2. Shah is on state visit where he has so far addresses two public gatherings in West Champaran. 

The Rohtas administration has imposed prohibitory orders in some parts of Sasaram and beefed up security. 

The police added that law and order is under control after police action where there are reports of firing. However, the Bihar Police have yet not confirmed the use of firearms during the clashes.
