Chennai event manager who morphed photos of a model, blackmailed and threatened her, held

The accused posed as a woman and tricked the model to send her modelling photos to him which he allegedly morphed later to blackmail her

New Delhi, December 29

The Chennai Police have arrested a youth who was allegedly blackmailing a model and demanding sexual favours by threatening her to upload her morphed photographs on the internet.

The accused was identified as Ranjith, an event manager from Tiruppur. He runs his event management company at Perumbakkam. 

The police stated that Ranjith befriended a model who lives near Kolathur in Chennai. He had called the woman on multiple occasions and had promised her an opportunity in films through his contacts. 

According to the police, when the woman started avoiding him after witnessing few of his activities, the accused then contacted the woman from another number, pretending to be a female model called Deeksh Gupta. He asked her to send her modelling images and believing that it is actually a female model, the woman sent her photos. 

The accused then morphed her images and used it to threaten her of making it viral on social media if she did not give sexual favours, police added. 

Following this, the woman and her father filed a complaint at the Kolathur police station. 

The Chennai crime branch traced the accused and arrested him.
