The Chandigarh Police arrested national level shooter Parambir Singh Shola in the red bettle car accident that ran over three people in Chandigarh. The police are probing the role of a cop's son in providing shelter to Parambir who was evading arrest.

Parambir was arrested on May 20 and his police custody ended on May 23. Parambir is the son of known businessman Kamaljeet Singh from Zirakpur.

Parambir, a resident of Sector 21 in Panchkula, was returning from Chandigarh Police shooting range, Sector 25, along with a woman friend, when his Volkswagen Beetle car ran over seven people on the Dhanas-Sarangpur dividing road on May 17.

A vendor Rajvati Devi died on the spot. Two others Mustafa Ali and Vimlesh Devi  succumbed to injuries during treatment at the PGI hospital.

Parambir had gone absconding leaving the car at the spot while the locals had seen that a woman, who is also enrolled at Chandigarh police shooting range, was seated with him during the accident. The woman who was with him has been identified as Raman. The police are yet to record statement of the woman.

The police are probing the call detail record (CDR) on the day of road accident to match his route and presence on the scene of crime, to ascertain the name of people who had assisted him during his hideouts.

The accused has been booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, rash driving and other charges under the Indian Penal Code.

The Chandigarh Police have also summoned another of Parambir’s friend— who is the son of a former Head Constable of Chandigarh Police for questioning after they learnt that he may have helped Parambir stay at his farmhouse near Zirakpur after the accident last week.
