The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) summoned Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to join investigation into the Delhi excise policy case.

Sisodia announced on Twitter saying, “They are preparing to arrest me by making a completely fake case against me. I was to go to Gujarat for election campaign in the coming days. These people are losing Gujarat badly. Their purpose is to stop me from going to Gujarat election campaign.”

The CBI summoned Sisodia to appear at the CBI office at 11 am. The AAP supporters gathered around Sisodia’s car as he left his house.

In its FIR on the implementation of Delhi’s Excise Policy 2021-22, the CBI named 15 people, with Sisodia’s name at the top of the list. So far, three people have been arrested — AAP’s communication in-charge Vijay Nair, Indospirit Group’s Sameer Mahendru and Hyderabad-based businessman Abhishek Boinpally.

The FIR was lodged on August 17 after Delhi Lt-Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena recommended a CBI probe into the implementation of the policy following a report submitted by Delhi Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar.

The report, which officials said was submitted on July 8, alleged that undue benefits were provided to liquor vend licensees. The AAP government later scrapped the policy.
