CBI arrests sub area manager of Western Coalfields Limited in Maharashtra for bribery

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested an employee of Ghonsa Open Cast Mine (OCM), Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) in Yavatamal district of Maharashtra for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1,00,000.

The accused has been identified as Sub Area Manager of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) Gautam Basutjar. 

The CBI received a complaint that he demanded a bribe of Rs 3,23,610 from the complainant to issue the delivery order for lifting the coal from the WCL Mine.

It was further alleged that the complainant’s firm was authorized to lift 8200 MT coal from Ghonsa OCM, WCL, Wani North Area but the firm could lift only 4623 MT coal. The complainant also alleged that the accused denied to issue the new delivery order and demanded a negotiated bribe of Rs 3,19,000 for the earlier favour rendered by him to complainant and to issue new delivery order for 2500 MT Coal.

The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 1,00,000 as the first installment from the complainant. 

The CBi conducted searches at the official and residential premises of the accused which led to recovery of documents relating to property and other incriminating documents.
