Businessman Raj Kundra arrested for pornographic mobile apps by Mumbai Crime Branch

Mumbai Crime Branch : Raj Kundra has been booked as "key conspirator" in making and publishing pornographic films through mobile apps.

The Mumbai Police Crime Branch arrested businessman Raj Kundra for his alleged role in a case of making pornographic films and publishing them through mobile applications.

Kundra, husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, has been accused as "key conspirator" in making and publishing pornographic films through mobile apps.

The case was registered with property cell of Mumbai crime branch in February this year where arrested nine persons were earlier arrested.

The crime branch said that Kundra’s name had appeared during the questioning of the accused and since then he was put under investigation.

The crime branch had summoned him for questioning following which he was placed under arrest.

Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale stated that Mumbai crime branch has arrested Raj Kundra in this case as he appears to be the key conspirator of this. He added that the crime branch has sufficient evidences regarding this. 

In the racket busted by the crime branch, the police had said women were lured into acting in pornographic movies with promises of roles in web series.
As per the case details, the previously arrested accused were owners of streaming platforms where these porn films were available for viewing with a subscription fee.

Kundra’s name had also cropped up in a similar case that had been registered by the Maharashtra Cyber police last year. Kundra had filed for anticipatory bail in this case and the court is likely to decide on his application next week.

Raj Kundra - the owner of an app called JL Stream -- was part owner of Indian Premier League cricket team Rajasthan Royals.
In 2013, he was questioned by the Delhi Police in connection with the betting and spot-fixing scandal that engulfed Indian cricket.

Kundra is a British-Indian businessman. In 2004, he was ranked as the 198th richest British Asian by Success.

The crime branch stated that investigation is in progress.
