BSF on high alert in J&K ahead of Republic Day, seize arms ammunition, narcotics and carry out special security drives

The intelligence wing in Jammu & Kashmir has alerted security forces of terror and nefarious activities across the border ahead of the Republic Day

Keeping in view of the forthcoming Republic Day and security situation to deal with any nefarious activities from across the border, troops of BSF Jammu frontier have been on high alert since last week.

The Intelligence Bureau had shared intelligence input with the security forces in military, para military and J&K Police for terror and nefarious activities around the Republic Day. 

The BSF is carrying out extensive anti-tunnelling drive, special patrolling and depth area domination despite extremely hostile weather conditions. 

The BSF officials said that to strengthen the border domination, mobilisation of troops have been done . Regular monitoring of suspicious activities of counterpart is being carried out through surveillance equipment.

In addition to that, a joint patrolling/exercise are also being conducted alongwith Army, CRPF and State Police to scuttle any nefarious attempts of ANEs.

The BSF troops deployed on Jammu International Border have been quite successful and consistent in foiling attempts from across the border by eliminating Pakistan intruders, seizing huge caches of arms and ammunition, narcotics and detecting tunnels in past one year.

The BSF Kashmir Frontier has been manning LoC in Kashmir Valley to safeguard the LoC from nefarious designs of Pakistan in maintaining active communication and coordination with all the stakeholders.

During the year 2021, BSF successfully recovered/seized Three AK-47 rifles, six 9MM Pistols, 1071 ammunitions, twenty hand grenades, two IEDs and 17.3 Kg Heroin (Rs-88 crore Approx.) in different operationals. 

In addition to that, the BSF also looks after the well being of populace residing in border/near LoC areas and for their well-being, through various Civic Action programs which includes Free Medical Camps, Sports & Cultural activities, evacuation (Airlifted) of civilians patients from snow-bound areas and also efforts to help the people in need on LoC. 

The BSF also took numerous initiatives to improve basic infrastructure at grass root level to provide maximum facilities to Jawan in Kashmir Frontier. 

Keeping in view the welfare of Jawans and their family members, Family Welfare Centers (BWWA) are functional in each unit where various Civil/Vocational courses are being run for families of BSF personnel.
