367 Sub Inspectors including 107 women SIs join Delhi Police

This is the 48th batch of Probationer Sub Inspectors who passed out of DPA after having completed armed combat and firing by modern weapons, besides skills in anti-terrorist measures

New Delhi, December 17

The Delhi Police has welcomed 367 Sub Inspectors including 107 women SIs in their force in a spectacular passing out parade at Delhi Police Academy at Jharoda Kalan. 

This is the 48th batch of Probationer Sub Inspectors who passed out of DPA after completion of their 12 months basic training.

MoS (Home) Nityanand Rai was the Chief Guest at the event. 

MoS Rai took the salute of the marching contingents. The parade was attended by Delhi CP Sanjay Arora,  Mukesh Kumar Meena, Special Commissioner of Police, Training, senior officers of Delhi Police,  Akshat Mehta, Dean of Rashtriya Raksha University, Gandhi Nagar Gujarat and family members of the Sub-Inspectors.  

This batch augments the trained manpower of Delhi Police by 367 Sub-Inspectors including 109 Women Sub-Inspectors. These Sub Inspectors carry rich educational experience with one SI having an  M.Tech, MCA, two having MBA, 10 having M.Sc, 8 having a M.Com, 18 having and MA, 1 having a LLB, 71 having B.Tech, 4 having BBA, 08 having BCA, 91 having B.Sc, 32 having B.Com and 116 having BA. 

They are from different states cutting across India with 106 Sub-Inspectors from Haryana, 102 from Delhi, 66 from Rajasthan, 64 from Uttar Pradesh, 6 from Bihar, 5 from Uttrakhand, 3 from Nagaland, 2 each from Manipur, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Chandigarh and one each from Jharkhand, Punjab, Maharashtra, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh & Telangana. 

During their training, apart law subjects and police procedures they have been taught in wide spectrum of topics useful for their day to day working viz. police science, computer science, cyber crime, criminology, personality development etc.. 

They have also been trained in un-armed combat and firing by modern weapons, besides skills in anti-terrorist measures. For their physical development they have been given physical training and also trained in Games, Yoga and Gym activities. A 30 days Commando Course was also held for these trainees, officials added. 

Delhi CP Sanjay Arora mentioned about the future challenges in Cyber domain and highlighted that the trainees have been imparted special training on cyber convention. 

Under the Digital India programme of Prime Minister, Delhi Police has taken a strong step towards digitalization. These PSIs have also been trained to fight terrorism and riots using latest techniques. He advised the trainees to learn more in Police Stations for their day to day working.   

Akshat Mehta, Dean of Rashtriya Raksha University mentioned about the role of Rashtriya Raksha University in internal security of the nation with augmentation and capacity building of the armed forces including central and state police organizations.  

MoS Rai also gave the trophies to the best performers in the batch. Later he also distributed the Post Graduate Diploma Certificate in Police Administration and Investigation to all the Sub-Inspectors of this batch by using Block Chain.  

The Chief Guest during his address congratulated all the trainees for outstanding parade and welcomed them in the police family. He stated that in the present world scenario, India is bound to become a strong power and leader in the coming 25 years and will be a torch-bearer for the entire world. 

He urged all that we should fulfill this vision of PM Narendra Modi. The role of police is most important in the metropolis like Delhi and they have to sympathize fully with the citizens and the weaker sections. He also advised to remain alert to deal with the Global terrorism, National Security and Cyber Crime.  

The chief guest acknowledged the professional challenges faced by Delhi Police such as Terrorism, Citizen's safety especially safety of women and weaker sections and law & order. He laid special emphasis on quality investigation steps to prevent crime.   

He appreciated the induction of 109 women Sub-Inspectors in Delhi Police which will surely bring a sense of security in the women citizens of the capital. He also lauded and congratulated the efforts by Delhi Police in ‘Mahila Shasktikaran’.

He appreciated the initiative of Delhi Police for signing an MOU with Rashtriya Raksha University as it is the first time in the history of Delhi Police that a Batch of PSIs of Delhi Police is being conferred Post-Graduate Diploma Certificate. 

Rai emphasized on the vision for augmenting the security of the nation and smart policing, for which modernization of police would be required with modern techniques and up-gradation of infrastructure. He assured to provide all possible help to Delhi Police for upgrading capacity of Delhi Police. He also assured to provide all resources to upgrade the training infrastructure to take its training to new heights. 

'All Round Best' trophy was given by the Chief Guest to Sub-Inspector Narender, for his overall best performance. Sub-Inspectors Brij Mohan, K. Kamal Mehra, Chena Ram and Rohit Tewatia were also given trophies for their best performances in Outdoor, Commando Course, Computer Course and Shooting respectively.
