New Delhi, December 25

A 17-year-old boy was beaten up by his classmates over petty issues who succumbed to the injuries at RML Hospital in Delhi.

The deceased studied at Jan Kalyan school in Northeast Delhi and was returning home on December 15 when a group of three to four boys accosted him. The group attacked him and he sustained injuries on his face and head.

The boy’s father, Jitender (54) told police that his son first got into a verbal spat with another boy on December 12. Later, a group of boys ganged up against his son and assaulted him.

According to the police, the family didn't file a complaint or informed police. They also didn't get a MLC (medico-legal certificate) made. The elders from both families had intervened and the matter was settled.

However, the boy’s health started deteriorating on December 22 night. The doctors called the police later to inform them about the assault on the boy.
