The girl had left for a market to collect her charger when one of the accused known to her offered to drop her home however he took her to a vacant bungalow in Palghar where she was held captive for 15 hours and gangraped

A 15-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped at a vacant bungalow in Palghar district of Maharashtra. 

The police said the incident took place on December 17. She was confined to a vacant bungalow for about 15 hours starting.

The police added that she was raped eight times by six men, while three others attempted to rape her. All nine accused have been arrested and booked under relevant sections of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

As per the case details, the girl left the village market on December 16 evening, saying she had to take back her mobile charger that she had given a friend. She told police that while in the market, one of her friends, whom she had known for about four months, met her and offered to drop her home. He allegedly took her to the bungalow, where two of his friends were present who were consuming alcohol. 

The three accused allegedly  snatched her phone and took turns to rape her through the night.

The girl also tried to call her family several times but  the phone was snatched away from her. When Tthe girl’s family, police said, tried calling back several times, but the accused allegedly kept disconnecting and later switched off her phone. 

The police added that the accused allegedly used her phone to send a message to a friend of the victim saying she had been kidnapped. The family then went to the police station and lodged a complaint.

The accused had then released the girl, and handed over her phone. She was found sitting under a tree near the bungalow when police found her. 

The police used technical surveillance and traced the girl. The girl was taken for medical treatment where counselling is also being provided to the girl, police added.

The police have lodged a case of gangrape, kidnapping and other charges under the Indian Penal Code.
