In a second incident reported in last few weeks from Haryana, two construction labourers were buried alive after soil caved in on them while they were working at an under-construction plot in Sector 56.

The victims have been identified as Malkhan (28) and his sister-in-law Guddo (42), hailing from Chhatarpur district in Madhya Pradesh who were living in Sector 56.

According to police, the incident took place around 4 pm when Malkhan, Guddo and three other labourers were working at the basement of the plot, dug at least 15-20 feet deep.

The police added that while they were digging, an adjacent wall collapsed and fell on the two victims. They got buried underneath the soil. There were three other labourers who were present there but they escaped in time.

The victim got trapped inside for several minutes and turned unconscious. They were rushed to the hospital where they were declared dead on arrival.

The families of the victims have cried foul and told police that the contractor is responsible for the incident. The labourers also complained of non-availability of safety gear and equipment at the construction spot.

The police have registered an FIR against the contractor and owner of the plot after the victims’ family filed a complaint alleging negligence on their part, causing deaths. The FIR was registered under IPC sections 304-A (causing death by negligence) and 34 (common intention).

Few weeks back, similar incident had occurred in Nuh of Haryana where five girls were buried to death when the soil caved in while their nine-year-old sister survived.
