Man beaten to death at a drug rehab in Ghaziababd by its manager

The accused is a manager of the centre who got into an argument with the victim who was readmitted to the cente on March 16

New Delhi, March 18

A man admitted to a drug rehabilitation centre in Ghaziabad was allegedly beaten to death by the operator and his four accomplices.

The police have identified the deceased as Ankit Batra, a resident of Paschim Vihar in Delhi while the accused was identified as the manager of the shelter, Vipin Thakur who attacked Batra with his four accomplices

The police stated that the incident took place on March 18 evening at a drug rehabilitation centre run by Avishka Foundation in Ram Park Extension area of Khanpur Mod. 

As per the case details, Batra was admitted to the centre around two-and-a-half months ago. “His wife took him home about 25 days ago. He was sent back to the rehabilitation centre on March 16. He allegedly got into an argument with the manager. After the incident, the accused locked the building from outside and fled the spot. 

The police came to know of the incident around 9.30 pm after some people inside the centre started shouting from the terrace. 

The police have formed teams to trace the accused while booking him on charges of murder under IPC sections 302 among others.
