Suneet Singh, a 3rd-year electrical engineering B Tech student was a native of village Shahro in district Doda of Jammu

New Delhi, April 29

An engineering student was found hanging in his hostel room in the Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology (CCET).

The police identified him as Suneet Singh, a 3rd-year electrical engineering B Tech student. He was a native of village Shahro in district Doda of Jammu.

According to the police, Suneet Singh and his roommate had returned to the hostel from a home essential grocery store after purchasing packets of chips at midnight. He insisted on sleeping in the old hostel instead of the new hostel. 

However, next morning, when there was no response on being called, the roomates broke open the door. Suneet was found hanging. The hostel warden and other students rushed to the spot and the police was called. 

The police however found no suicide note at the spot. The forensic teams were also called in for analysis who found no foulplay at the inspection of the room.  

The body was sent for autopsy after which the cause of his death would be ascertained. 

The preliminary investigation showed that the victim’s mother works in Jammu while his father had passed away long ago. 

The police have filed a case and will register FIR after the reports.
